Full time broadcast preparation

By Camglen Radio on 06-Feb-13 09:47.

Tam here with a much needed and rather late update!

In terms of broadcasting, things have been very, very quiet round here. Not so much as an internet broadcast since we were on air in December..

This is for two reasons - the first is that we are busying ourselves with planning for hitting the airwaves with the full time FM broadcasting - which we are intending to start in Spring 2014. This sounds like a long way away - but you know how time flies! Plus the fact that, after five happy years of being based in Arran Tower in Whitlawburn we are moving premises!

Yes, it's true! We are going to be permanently re-locating to the Old Church Hall, on Farmeloan Road, just off the Main Street in Rutherglen, along with our parent organisation Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust.  We're all looking forward to making the space a community hub for all! Healthy n Happy will also be using space in the Aspire building which is directly next door to the church.

We are looking for the move to be completed (or as close to!) by 3rd June, which means bidding a fond farewell to the Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre as well as Arran Tower.

The studio re-build is in the planning phase, but suffice to say it's going to be all hands on deck as we make the church our new home.

We intend on launching a weekend internet broadcasting service before the end of the year, so the team can sharpen their skills; as well as a sustained internet broadcast early-ish in 2014 which will serve as the lead in to commencing the full time FM service!

We will also be recruiting new volunteers for Camglen Radio near the end of the year, so if you are a resident of Cambuslang or Rutherglen, now might be a good time to register your interest!

Good times ahead!

We'll be posting updates in due course, so until then.... Stay healthy, yeah?

Camglen Radio 5 Year Licence

By Camglen Radio on 24-Jul-12 16:52.

Ofcom has announced on Fri 19th July 2012 that Camglen Radio, part of Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust, is to be awarded a Community Radio (FM) licence for 5 years.

Volunteers & staff are delighted that their dream of delivering a full time FM service to Cambuslang and Rutherglen is to finally become a reality.

The application was submitted in February this year after many weeks of planning and development involving the staff team at Healthy n happy and in particular the local people involved on Camglen Radio's committee.

We'd like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years and in the development of our application, and we're really looking forward to working with you in the near future!

A great month of community radio!

By Camglen Radio on 26-Jun-12 10:03.

After last years bad winter and its effects on our broadcast, we were hoping that this year would be a little kinder and we were not let down!

Since going on air for our final RSL short term broadcast the team have filled the FM airwaves with great community content and boy did the shows get better and better!

With the great news earlier in the year that we have been granted a FULL TIME LICENCE, the volunteers went into this broadcast with the added motivation that next time we go on FM, will be on a more permanent basis. The big move is likely to happen in Summer 2014 but that didn't stop our guys producing a variety of top quality entertainment shows to cater for all tastes over the last 28 days.

We celebrated in fine style, going back to our roots with a live broadcast from the original broadcast room with Cameron King in the hotseat, bringing the show to a close with Tam Curry and Brendan Rooney.
